IT Professional Apprenticeship Programme
Job Role - Desktop Support
Overview
This apprenticeship qualification delivers leading edge (Windows 7) technology. We have designed it to run over little more than 1 year. An important reason for this decision is the development and support cycle of Microsoft products means we risk our learners gaining obsolete qualifications if the delivery timescales are extended. Our programme is due to start in Summer 2012.
Delivery
The pattern delivery is one week (4 days) at the centre followed by 3 weeks (14 hrs /wk) at the workplace. The programme is an advanced apprenticeship and has 800 GLH + a possible 135 GLH functional skills.
The programme utilises “Cloud” virtualisation technology, meaning that anyone with an Internet connection can run server and workstation configuration exercises. There is therefore no need for dedicated workstation and server hardware, any PC will serve as a student platform.
Career Development
Professional IT staff are well paid. The following link shows that the average salary for those holding the MCITP qualification delivered by this apprenticeship is currently £38k so this represents a really good alternative to Uni and an excellent opportunity to enter a good well paid career.
